Progress on Safe and Well
I have committed a year to a series I call Safe and Well. So far, I'm on track. This month I share two figurative pieces, each sure to lower your blood pressure.
September in the Studio
Above is the small mock up version of "Long View". I have been working on the large version that, when complete, and remodeling to the building is done, will hang in the State Hospital in Evanston, Wyoming.
Adventure Abroad
In June I traveled overseas, and for twenty-five days was away from the safety and boring routines of home. The countries visited were Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary (cities - Zurich, Prague, Olomouc, Bratislava, Vienna, and Budapest). I was with my traveling cousin and the Gillette Chamber Singers.
Weed Sort Plan
This blog is part two of a discussion about photographs. Do they bring you joy?
Quick Show and Tell
In my September blog post, I showed you many examples of artwork inspired by relationships with people, animals and place. Two of the photos I shared then, are now small pieces of art.
Inspiration Found in Relationships
My artist statement has drifted this way and that over the years, but one thing remains the same.People Together. Relationship.
At the Art Reception
When I attend an Art Reception, I usually seek out the company of another artist, preferably to sit one on one in a quiet corner. The patrons are OK too, but the conversations differ. I have thankfully out grown the extreme shyness of my youth. It is no longer impossible or painful to talk to new people about my artwork.
Inspiration from Photos
I am often inspired to create art quilts based on my own candid photos. Here are some examples of pieces that started out this way. I am drawn to photos that have good composition and strong contrast of light and dark.
Repeating Myself - in a good way
Like those other artists I will probably repeat myself many more times. I can't help it.
